The DROP readiness checklist
DROP is California's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform: every registered data broker must pull its deletion list, match it against their own records, and delete every match at least every 45 days (Civ. Code §1798.99.86(c)). This free twelve-point pre-flight is the same one we run before every client's DROP cycle, condensed into one page. Cycle 2 lands in mid-September, and the independent audits that will check how cycles like this one were run begin in January 2028. It's yours whether or not you ever book a call with us.
What's inside
- List selection matches the data types you actually hold (11 CCR §7610(a)(3))
- Identifier variant inventory across every system and table
- Hashing verified against the state's published worked examples
- Status codes handled correctly, including code 4 (one identifier, multiple consumers)
- A written exemption policy from counsel, not one your own team drafted
- Vendor deletion notice templates, plus a proof-of-sending file for every batch
- Suppression list maintained and screened on every cycle
- File 2 filed before you pull the next list
- Amendment tracking for any status change, inside the 45-day window
- Evidence retained for six years, not cleared with the rest of your logs
- Registration calendar current in every state you're registered
- Your next January renewal already dated on the calendar
